First Baptist Church of South Point was organized in 1823 by Rev. John Lee and Rev. William Fusen.

Rev William Warren Davidson and Daniel Brubaker, Sr., a faithful member, were principal contributors in a move to erect a church building.

The original church building was later razed and a new frame building built in 1867. This new building included a high belfry that housed a richly-toned bell.

During the 1950's, the church leadership saw the need for a new building program and put plans in place to reach that goal.

The congregation of the First Baptist Church of South Point continues to emphasize historic Baptist doctrines, adhering to plain Biblical teachings.
